GENERAL SUMMARY:
Central Methodist University seeks applicants for a The Center of Faith and Service Graduate Assistant position. The individual will work each week to help with Praise Band direction, A/V needs, and help identify and recruit students to serve for Chapel services. They will also assist with social media updates for the Center of Faith and Service and help students at CMU engage in service projects throughout the semester and on Service Days at CMU.
This is a 5-month position renewable for up to two years pending an annual reviewing process. Position includes a full tuition waiver and a $7,500 stipend to live off campus or a $5,000 stipend to live on campus.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare any IT or Videos for weekly chapel services
- Work with Marketing Department to prepare for weekly streaming of chapel services
- Work with praise bands in helping them learn Planning Center, Music Stand, and Loop Community for the rehearsals.
- Work with praise bands in helping vocally and in instrumentally to be excellent
- Work to recruit high school students to enroll at Central Methodist University and participate in the Praise Band program.
- Coordinate tech persons to run A/V for each chapel service
- Coordinate 1 night event for CFS each week during Fall & Spring semester
- Recruit people for chapel services in greeting, small groups, etc.
- Working in community to find areas that CMU can service on Service Days
- October & April
- Work to help students identify service areas and signing up for service areas for yearly service days.
- Help to organize 1 service event monthly for students to engage in and find ways to help students get information about these events and attend events
- Manage CFS social media
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will assist in the oversight of work study students
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree is required and acceptance into the Central Methodist’s Graduate Degree Program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to assist with all setup and cleanup of Student Life programs
- Must be actively working/planning during scheduled office hours
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be prompt and ready to assist with planning campus-wide programs.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office
- Public speaking abilities
- Ability to provide customer service to our students, faculty, staff & community
OTHER INFORMATION AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Must be available to work nights and/or weekends
- Must be able/willing to perform in fast paced environment
